The City of Alameda is in the process of making improvements to the Civic Center Parking Garage at Oak Street and Central Avenue to make it safer, cleaner, and more user-friendly. Concerns being addressed include vandalism, elevator service issues, loitering, and unsheltered encampments.

Recently completed improvements include elevator repair, upgraded stairwell lights to LED for better visibility, and temporary fencing on the first and fifth floors to deter unwanted activity while further improvements are being made.
Overnight closing—what works best for you?
The City plans to close the garage overnight to reduce vandalism and is asking for feedback on times that would work best for closing at night and reopening in the morning. To offer your opinion, complete the short online survey by Wednesday, July 24.

- The interior of the garage and stairwells will be repainted to increase luminosity and create a brighter, more welcoming environment.
- Parking payment kiosks on the first floor will be upgraded for mobile payments.
- An upgraded parking guidance system will be installed to improve occupancy management.
