Property owners can pay the taxes due in one lump sum or in two installments, according to a notice issued by Alameda County Treasurer and Tax Collector Henry C. Levy. The first installment is due on November 1, 2025, and will be considered delinquent if not paid by 5 p.m. on December 10, after which a 10% delinquent penalty will be assessed. The second installment is due on February 1, 2026, and will be considered delinquent at 5 p.m. on April 10, 2026, after which a 10% delinquent penalty and $10 cost will be assessed.

Taxes may be looked up and paid online at the Property Tax Portal.

There are several payment options that are fast, convenient, easy and don’t require coming inside the office:

  • Pay by eCheck. Visit the Alameda County Property Tax Portal to pay by eCheck (free).
  • Pay by phone. Use a credit card (convenience fee of 2.3% will be added to the total tax amount) 24 hours a day by telephone at 510-272-6800.
  • Pay by mail. Send a check, money order, cashier’s check or certified check (payable to Treasurer Tax Collector, Alameda County) to Henry C. Levy, Treasurer and Tax Collector Alameda County, PO Box 45862, San Francisco, CA 94145-0862.
  • Drop off a check in the drop box at the entrance of the County Administration Building, 1221 Oak Street, Oakland, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, holidays excepted. Do not drop cash in the drop box.
  • Drop off a check by the mail slot for check payment only at the Business License Office in Hayward, 224 W. Winton Ave., Room 169, Hayward CA, 94544 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, holidays excepted. Do not drop cash in the mail slot.

You may also pay via wire transfer. Please note due to safety recommendations from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, some foreign addresses may no longer be able to make online payments.

Real property owners who do not receive their tax bill by November 10, 2025 should contact the Tax Collector’s Office by calling (510) 272-6800, writing to the office, or downloading a copy at the Property Tax Portal. Note that in accordance with Revenue and Taxation Code Section 2610.5, failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer of any penalties or interest that accrue for non-payment.

Tax bills received for property no longer owned should be forwarded to the new owner or returned to the Tax Collector’s Office.

Supplemental tax bills are additional tax liabilities due to a reassessment of property values and the due dates are on the bills mailed to property owners. Please check the due dates on the supplemental bill to ensure timely payment of the tax as these dates may differ from the secured roll due dates.
