Survey available online and at select BART stations now thru June 24
BART is currently seeking feedback from the public on two new fare programs under consideration to increase public transit ridership in the Bay Area. The first program, Clipper BayPass, is a regional, prepaid, unlimited-ride transit pass available to institutions such as employers, universities, affordable housing sites, and other participating organizations. The second program, the No Cost & Reduced Cost Transfers Pilot Program, is scheduled to launch along with the Next Generation Clipper system in the future.

The Clipper BayPass program allows organizations to purchase and provide a prepaid Clipper BayPass to 100% of their eligible members, granting them unlimited access to all bus, rail, and ferry services in the nine-county Bay Area. This program is currently in its pilot phase and aims to make public transportation more accessible and convenient for a wide range of users.
The No Cost & Reduced Cost Transfers Pilot Program, on the other hand, will provide transit riders with free or discounted transfers between various transit agencies when using Clipper. Customers will pay the full fare for the first leg of their trip, and transfer trips made between agencies in the two hours following their first Clipper card tag will be free or discounted up to the maximum local fare, currently $2.50.
Where/when to provide feedback
BART is actively seeking opinions and feedback from the public about these programs through an online survey available from June 7 to June 24. In addition to the online survey, BART is also conducting in-station outreach events at several BART stations throughout the Bay Area.
The in-station outreach events will take place at Richmond Station on Wednesday, June 12, 3 to 6 p.m.; Downtown Berkeley Station on Thursday, June 13, 7 to 9:30 a.m.; 12th St./Oakland City Center on Tuesday, June 18, 7 to 9:30 a.m.; and Berryessa/North San Jose on Thursday, June 20, 3 to 6 p.m.
BART aims to better understand the needs and preferences of transit riders in the Bay Area by gathering feedback from the public to tailor these new fare programs to best serve the community. The input received through the survey and outreach events will play a crucial role in shaping the final implementation of these programs.
The Clipper BayPass and No Cost & Reduced Cost Transfers Pilot Program represent BART’s ongoing efforts to make public transportation more accessible, affordable, and convenient for Bay Area residents. By offering unlimited-ride passes and discounted transfers, BART hopes to encourage more people to choose public transit as their primary mode of transportation, ultimately reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality in the region.
