Alameda Police Department (APD) credited the help of “vigilant community members” for arrests in two separate robberies on Tuesday, February 25.

The first arrest occurred around 12:30 p.m., when APD officers responded to an in-progress robbery at the Alameda Landing Shopping Center on Fifth Street (Alameda Point).
“Thanks to detailed witness reports, officers quickly located the suspect as they attempted to leave the area,” APD stated in a social media report. “The suspect was arrested, a knife was found in their possession, and the stolen items were returned to the business.”
A few hours later, another report of a possible in-progress crime was called in, and APD officers responded to the scene on the 100 block of Maitland Drive. When they arrived, officers determined that the incident was an armed robbery.
The suspect attempted to flee but was located within a few minutes near Harbor Bay Parkway. Officers recovered a knife, arrested the suspect, and returned the stolen items to the victim and business.
APD offered “a huge thank you to the Alameda community for their diligence in reporting these crimes directly to APD. Your actions help us achieve quick resolutions and keep our streets safe.”
Most community comments on the social media post were very positive, expressing gratitude to APD officers for a job well done. One commenter, who described himself as “the victim in the second robbery,” wrote, “I would love to thank APD for the job they did… Thank you again for your professionalism. God bless and stay safe.”
