Show Some Love to Abigail’s Moroccan Cuisine

The owner of Abigail’s Moroccan Cuisine suffered a heart attack on November 17 and the beloved restaurant was forced to temporarily shut down. Jonathan Belkhalfia, 62, has been in and out of the hospital since then and is waiting to see if he needs a heart transplant.

In the meantime, his wife and co-owner of the restaurant, Fatima Belkhalfia underwent back surgery earlier this month. When the Alameda Post spoke with her on January 28, she had reopened the restaurant that day despite lingering pain from her surgery. She was tentatively seeing if they could remain open.

Abigail’s is known for its delicious Moroccan dishes featuring chicken, lamb, and vegetables served with couscous and rice. In addition to tajines and entrees, they also offer sandwiches, soups, and salads.

A fundraiser for the Belkhalfia family can be found on the Abigail’s Moroccan Cuisine Facebook page.
