FAAS Will Put Your Ex’s Name in a Litter Box for Valentine’s Day

Not a big fan of your ex? FAAS (Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter) has the perfect Valentine’s Day solution for you (and your ex doesn’t have to know unless you really want them to). For a contribution of $5 or more, FAAS will write the first name of your ex at the bottom of a litter box, which will be used by our shelter cats.

Alameda Post - Two cartoon cats sit next to a litter box. On an uncovered portion of the litter box, the names "Trevor, Aaron, Wayne, and Marco" are written. Text says "Got a poopy ex? We got you covered!"

It’s easy! Just fill out a donation form on the FAAS one-time donation page:

  1. Choose the amount of your donation.
  2. Select “General Fund.”
  3. Be sure to enter your ex’s first name in the section entitled “Any notes to us about this donation?”

You’re not limited to just one bad ex. If you have multiple exes whose names belong at the bottom of a litter box, be sure to include $5 for each and put all of their names in that “notes” section. So, three rotten exes = $15 donation and all three names in the box. Deadline to submit your donation and your ex’s name is Monday, February 10, by 5 p.m.

By the way, the poopy people don’t have to be exes! They can be anyone who annoys you or has done you wrong. Multiple names will be in each litter box.

And here’s the fun part: FAAS will take photos or create videos of all the litter boxes with the names clearly shown at the bottom and then post the pics/vids on social media on February 13 so you can see your contribution.

The actual litter boxes will be distributed to FAAS cats the day before Valentine’s Day, so they’ll be put to good use bright and early on Valentine’s Day.
