Access for all children to the sport of golf and to the vital health benefits of green space is central to all of Corica Park’s no-cost youth programs [1]. But without a good pair of shoes, kids are left out of those opportunities for play that nurture learning, build confidence, and support physical fitness
This holiday season, Corica Park is hosting “Shoes That Fit Campaign 2025 [2],” its third annual shoe drive. Greenway Golf is matching every donation for the first hundred pairs of shoes to double the impact, providing 200 pairs of shoes for children and teens served by All Good Living Foundation [3], which helps East Bay families transitioning out of homelessness.

The shoe drive helps to ensure that local youth have much-needed footwear as they head back to school after the winter break. Every $30 donated provides one pair of shoes. The goal this year is to raise at least $3,000, which will buy 100 pairs of shoes.
Shoes That Fit is an award-winning 501(c)3 nonprofit, whose mission is to tackle one of the most visible signs of poverty in America by giving children in need new athletic shoes to attend school with dignity and joy, to help them be prepared to learn, play, and thrive.
A new pair of shoes can be a life-changing event for a child. Educators reported that after receiving a new pair of shoes, children showed a 94% increase in confidence, 74% improvement in physical activity, 92% improvement in self-esteem, and 85% improvement in social interaction, according to statistics provided by Shoes That Fit.

Corica Park junior golf programs
Corica Park offers many free youth programs [1], including free afternoon walk-up play for juniors, school outings, Sundays on the Green, Alameda Middle School Golf League, summer camps, and more.
Free afternoon walk-up play is offered on all three courses after 4 p.m. in the fall and winter, and 5 p.m. in the spring and summer for all youth 18 and under. Wednesday walk-up play for golf and footgolf is free all day, year-round on the Mif unless the course is closed for other programming. Call the golf shop at (510) 747-7800 for more information or visit their Junior Golf [5] webpage.
Sundays on the Green [6] are small group clinics including golf instruction, life skills, and mentorship offered at no cost to Alameda youth ages 10-17. Led by former Alameda High School Golf Coach Nick Wolf.
Alameda Middle School Golf League [7] is a no-cost, winter season golf league open to all Alameda middle school students in collaboration with All Good Living Foundation’s Do Good Sports Club [8] and led by former Alameda High School golf coach Nick Wolf.
On the Green Summer Camp [9] is a no-cost week-long summer camp program that includes transportation and meals for youth from underserved East Bay communities. In partnership with Soccer Without Borders [10] and established regional non-profits, this innovative program reimagines golf—and golf course space—to provide inclusive, positive opportunities for growth and development.
The Alameda Junior Golf Club Summer Program [11] features Wednesday tournaments and clinics hosted by Alameda Junior Golf Club [12]. Greenway Golf provides use of the facility for the program completely free of charge including all tee times for tournament play and range balls for clinics.
There are many other opportunities for youth at Corica Park, and as the shoe drive makes clear, golf or no golf, feeling good begins with a new pair of shoes.
