Alameda County Property Tax First Installment Due Nov. 1

It’s that time again. Property tax [1] bills for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 are being mailed out this month to all real property owners of record. Taxes may be paid in two installments, according to a notice issued by Alameda County [2] Treasurer and Tax Collector, Henry C. Levy.

The first installment is due on November 1, 2024 and will be delinquent at 5 p.m. on December 10, 2024, after which a 10% delinquent penalty will be assessed. The second installment is due on February 1, 2025 and will be delinquent at 5 p.m. on April 10, 2025, after which a 10% delinquent penalty and $10 cost will be assessed.

Payment options

There are several payment options that are fast, convenient, and easy.

What to do if you don’t receive your tax bill

Real property owners who do not receive their tax bill by November 8 should contact the Tax Collector’s Office. Call 510-272-6800, write to the office, or download an internet copy of the bill from the Alameda County Property Tax website [5]. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve taxpayers of any penalties or interest that accrue for non-payment, per Revenue and Taxation Code Section 2610.5.

Also note that tax bills received for property no longer owned should be forwarded to the new owner or returned to the Tax Collector’s Office.

Supplemental Tax Bills

Supplemental tax bills are additional tax liabilities due to a reassessment of property values. The due dates are on the bills mailed to property owners. Be sure to check the due dates on the supplemental bill to ensure timely payment of the tax, as these dates may differ from the secured roll due dates.
