Puck and Skates Will Scoot into Your Heart

Pets of the Week for May 24, 2025

Looking for love, laughter, and a little chaos? Meet Puck [1] and Skates [2], pups who have perfected the art of being tiny, hilarious, and heartbreakingly adorable.

These two are a pair of affection magnets. They live for human attention, tag-team their charm attacks, and would be happiest together—or in a home with another friendly pup to vibe with.

Puck (male)

Thinks every lap is his. Will gaze into your soul until you pet him. The 11-month-old cutie is a tiny bundle of love with a big heart. This adorable Chihuahua may be small in size, but he’s overflowing with personality.

Puck is playful, cuddly, and always ready to snuggle up in your lap or follow you around like your shadow. He’s great with gentle handling and would thrive in a calm, loving home. Whether you’re watching TV or taking a stroll, Puck will be your perfect little companion.

Skates (female)

Queen of sass. This two-year-old runs the house, even if she’s the size of a burrito. She’s a tiny bundle of love wrapped in quiet charm. With big, expressive eyes and the daintiest little paws, she’ll tiptoe through your life with gentle curiosity.

Her name comes from the way she seems to glide across the floor, especially when she’s excited—but don’t be fooled, this shy girl prefers cozy corners and calm company to the spotlight.

Though she’s a little hesitant at first, once Skates warms up to you, she’ll become your most loyal snuggle buddy. Sit with her, and before you know it, she’ll be curled in your lap and asking for kisses. Skates adores soft blankets, whispered compliments, and the occasional treat- she’ll give you a smile, too! Her sweet nature and bashful personality make her the perfect little companion for anyone who appreciates the quiet joys of friendship.

Meet them both

Puck and Skates are small, they’re spicy, and they’ll steal your heart faster than Skates can steal Puck’s treats. To meet them, visit Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
