Pet of the Week for May 23, 2026
After spending time soaking up the comforts of foster life, Moira [1] is once again looking for a place to land, whether that’s a temporary foster home or a forever family ready to adopt her.
[2]A spayed brown-and-white Black Mouth Cur mix, this sweet girl truly blossomed in foster care, spending her days curled up in warm spots on the couch, doing joyful zoomies around the house, and enjoying quiet, cozy time with her people. While she may seem reserved at first, those who know her best say that once she feels safe, she is deeply loyal, affectionate, and impossible not to love.
Moira is the kind of dog who wants to be near her people. She’ll happily follow you from room to room, keep watch during kitchen activities, and steal your seat the second you stand up. When she’s especially happy, she bunny-hops with excitement—a little glimpse of the playful side she saves for the people she trusts most.
Her foster describes her as incredibly smart, easygoing, and eager to please. She’s fully house-trained and enjoys keeping busy with puzzle toys, bones, or a peanut butter-filled Kong. What Moira needs most is a calm, patient environment where she can settle in at her own pace and continue building confidence.
Right now, Moira is back at FAAS waiting for either a foster placement or a forever home. If you are considering fostering, all supplies will be provided by FAAS, making it easy to help a dog in need. And there’s even better news for adopters—all adoption fees are waived for the entire month of May.
Meet Moira at FAAS, 1590 Fortmann Way, Wednesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed daily for nap time from 1 to 2 p.m.
