Gorgeous George is Looking for a Soft Lap for His Golden Years

Pet of the Week for April 27, 2024

Ten-year-old George arrived at FAAS [1] in February, terribly scared and with his coat in horrendous condition. The neglect he’d been through broke our staff’s hearts.

Luckily he was almost immediately swept up by a very kind regular FAAS foster, Jamie Minas, and has been getting back on his feet ever since. (Those feet are very little, as you can see from the photo of his visit to the Thrifty Kitty, where he got his paws measured on the foot-sizing device.)

Jamie, who does landscape design and maintenance, says that when George comes home from a job, he jumps for joy and puts his front paws on the couch to tell Jamie he wants to come up. They love going on walks together, and George is especially fond of feeling soft grass under his paws. He also likes to roam around Jamie’s backyard and find the perfect splash of sunshine for a nap.

George loves to sit on laps or be held in humans’ arms. He also gets along well with other dogs, is fairly well housebroken if you’re watchful for “signals,” and loves treats. He’s a sleeper, not a barker. And for all of these reasons and more, he has earned his nickname—Gorgeous George.

Gorgeous George is seeking a forever home where he can spend his golden years. Jamie adores him but wants to be open to help FAAS with future dogs in need, so he can’t be a “foster fail.”

If you can picture George’s sweet little face greeting you every day, snoozing in a sunbeam, and snuggling in your lap, call FAAS at 510-337-8565 and they can arrange for you to meet him.

See more about this Pet of the Week [5] on his very own FAAS web page [6], where you can fill out an application to adopt him.
