Pet of the Week for August 8, 2026
Meet Gambit [1], a sweet, 11-year-old male brown brindle Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who is ready to find a home of his own.
Gambit is the kind of dog who enjoys the simple things. He loves taking relaxed walks where he can stop and sniff everything that catches his interest. He also has a playful streak. Bring out a tennis ball and he’s more than happy to chase it around.
[2]He’s friendly, enjoys meeting new people, and knows commands like “sit” and “paw.” A few treats and some attention are usually enough to win him over. After a walk or a little playtime, he’s perfectly happy to settle down and spend time by your side.
Gambit would do best as the only dog in your home so he can have all the love and attention to himself. In return, you’ll have a loyal companion who is happy just being with his people.
Senior dogs like Gambit are often passed by in shelters, but they have so much to offer. He’s past the puppy stage, knows how to enjoy life, and is simply looking for a safe, comfortable place where he can belong.
If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate dog who will be grateful for a second chance, Gambit would love to meet you. You can meet Gambit at FAAS, 1590 Fortmann Way, Wednesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed daily from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for naptime.
