FAAS In-Person Pet Loss Support Group Relaunched at South Shore

Few things in life are more heart-wrenching than losing a beloved pet. To help process the grief, Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) has brought back its free monthly Pet Loss Support Group.

The in-person group provides a supportive space for those grieving the loss of a pet, whether the pet has passed away, is missing, or has been surrendered. The peer support group is not a therapy session; it is a mutual support space, facilitated by FAAS’s veterinary social worker, Raquel Bernaldo. It is a compassionate and understanding place to process grief and honor the love we shared with our pets.

Special offering: Participants are invited and encouraged to bring a photo or item that connects you to your pet. These will be placed on the group’s collective altar as a way to honor and remember them.

No matter how the loss of your pet has touched your life, you are not alone.

If you have any questions, please call facilitator Raquel Bernado at 510-768-7217 or email her at [email protected] [2].
