Just one week after staff and students return, our annual Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten enrollment process will begin.

Our enrollment specialists are committed to making the enrollment process as smooth and stress-free as possible. Here’s how it will be organized this year.

TK and Kindergarten Information Nights

Information Nights come first. Due to the number of TK classes we are opening this year, we are organizing two TK Information Nights for families. Children are eligible for TK if they turn 5 years old between September 2, 2024, and June 2, 2025. The TK Information Night schedule is as follows:

If you cannot attend the session designated for your school, you are welcome to attend the other session. The content is the same at both sessions; we just want to be sure all families have a chance to ask any questions they might have.

Kindergarten Information Night will be held in person at each elementary school on Thursday, January 18. Check your neighborhood school website for more information. Children who turn 5 years old by September 1, 2024, are eligible for kindergarten.

As a reminder, AUSD will be offering a full-day kindergarten program in 2024-25, which means kindergarteners will attend school during the same hours as students in grades 1-5. We are super excited about this opportunity to provide more instruction, in a developmentally appropriate environment, to these young learners.

Online student enrollment application

The new student enrollment application will become available online on January 22. As part of that application, families can also schedule a processing time for after January 30, during which an enrollment specialist will review and verify the uploaded documents and finalize the enrollment. The full list of documents needed is available on the AUSD Enrollment web page [2].

Families who would like to enroll new students into grades 1-12 can schedule their enrollment to be processed on March 4 or later.

Open enrollment for ASTI, Encinal Jr. Sr. High School, and Wood Middle School are open through January 19, and Maya Lin School will accept open enrollment applications from families who live outside the Maya Lin zone January 22 – March 15.
