Alameda Kiwanis raised more than $20,000 for these grants at its January 31 Winter Fundraiser at the Albert DeWitt Officers Club on Alameda Point. All of the proceeds will be distributed to Alameda nonprofits that serve the community, with a particular emphasis on children and their families. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.

For the 2026 Grant Awards year, the Grant Committee is reaching out to nonprofit organizations that work to combat violence and racism, and promote equity and equality. The goal is to grant at least 25% of the available funds to those organizations.

The six permanent objectives of Kiwanis International, approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924 Convention in Denver, Colorado, have remained unchanged through the succeeding decades:

The Kiwanis Club of Alameda proudly celebrates more than 100 years of service to the community. Members are hands-on volunteers who support students, teachers, families, and individuals in need. To learn more about the club, email [email protected] [5] or come to a meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Alameda Elks Lodge, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue.
