Praise for Encinal’s Mamma Mia
To the Editor:
On March 21, my husband and I went to a play at Encinal High School. They were performing Mamma Mia, an uplifting and wonderful play. They did an outstanding job singing and dancing. The music is so very good and it was extremely hard for me to stay in my seat and not get up and sing and dance along with the cast. Everyone in the cast was having fun and enjoying themselves.
At the end, to cheer the cast, everyone in the audience was up on their feet clapping and singing. Thank you, Encinal High, for a wonderful evening.
Sincerely,
Lynn Perata
AEF’s support for AUSD
To the Editor:
In light of recent news from Washington D.C., the Alameda Education Foundation [2] (AEF) stands firmly with the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) as we navigate the concerns raised by Superintendent Pasquale Scuderi [3] regarding the potential dismantling of the U.S. Department of Education. While the full impact of this proposal remains unclear, we share the superintendent’s concerns about the disruption it could cause—especially for our most vulnerable students.
AEF plays a vital role in supporting AUSD’s mission to provide an equitable education and opportunities for all students. With the potential changes in federal funding on the horizon, we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring every student in Alameda has the resources they need to thrive, particularly those from historically underserved communities.
We are also deeply aware of the uncertainty facing school districts, students, and families across the country. The potential loss or delay of vital resources could impact countless students, and we stand in solidarity with them as we all work through these challenges.
Throughout times of uncertainty, our community has always risen to the occasion. From our schools and families to our local businesses and nonprofits, we are confident that Alameda will come together to ensure our students are supported. AEF, alongside AUSD, will continue advocating for the resources and stability our students deserve, and we are hopeful that, together, we will overcome these challenges.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
The Board and Staff of the Alameda Education Foundation
