To the Editor:
Alameda Free Library would like to thank the community for its tremendous support of and participation in our summer programs.
This year we had 4,044 people participate in our nine-week “Plant a Seed, Read!” summer reading program. More adults than ever have jumped on the summer reading bandwagon and we couldn’t be happier. We were pretty sure offering Tucker’s Ice Cream as a prize to adult readers would have an impact on enthusiasm.
This level of success would not have been possible without the help and generosity of the Friends of the Alameda Free Library. The Friends fund all the Library’s special programming and we appreciate everything they do to help enrich the Alameda community.
Special thanks to our community supporters who donated the incentives for our participants: the owners and staff of Tucker’s Ice Cream and Subpar Miniature Golf, who donated prizes to the Children’s Department. Their generosity toward the Library and to the community goes above and beyond. We appreciate them more than I can say.
And, of course, a huge thank you goes to the patrons and staff of the Alameda Free Library. Their energy, enthusiasm, and dedication keep us going. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your summer and we look forward to planning next year’s summer program.
Sincerely,
Eva Volin
