St. George Spirits Hosts Whiskey Release Party to Benefit Food Bank

St. George Spirits and Sierra Nevada are hosting a special release party for a limited-edition whiskey, Ruthless, on Saturday, September 13, from 1 to 4 p.m., at St. George Spirits, 2601 Monarch Street—and will donate 50% of all Ruthless bottle sales, split evenly between the Alameda Food Bank [1] and the Community Action Agency of Butte County [2].

The donations are designed to support the communities in which the two companies are located—the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company is in Chico, which is in Butte County.

“The Alameda Food Bank is an amazing resource for those in need,” said St. George head distiller and blender Dave Smith, who is an Alameda resident. “We’re proud to support their important mission.”

Tickets to the release party are $100 per person and include a bottle of Ruthless to take home from the party. A second bottle of Ruthless may be pre-ordered with ticket purchase for an additional $85, and a plus-one guest may be added for another $25. Tickets may be purchased online [4]. A valid ID (21+) and a pre-purchased ticket are required to attend. No one under 21 will be admitted.

A total of 750 bottles of Ruthless will be available.

Tastings at the party include samples of the Ruthless whiskey collaboration alongside a sample of St. George Single Malt Whiskey (Lot 24) and Baller American Single Malt Whiskey. The Sierra Nevada team will offer samples of Barrel-Aged Ruthless Rye IPA (aged in spent barrels from this release), as well as Hazy Little Thing, Pale Ale, and the newly released Premium PILS.

St. George master distiller Lance Winters, head distiller/blender Dave Smith, Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman, and chief brewer Brian Grossman will be available to sign bottles.

About the collaboration

Ruthless is distilled from Sierra Nevada’s Ruthless Rye IPA blended with a small amount of the very first barrel of St. George Spirits Single Malt Whiskey. The Ruthless IPA was distilled in 2012 and 2016 and spent eight to 11 years resting in American oak. The St. George Single Malt Whiskey in the Ruthless blend was brewed by Sierra Nevada, distilled by St. George Spirits, and laid down in used bourbon cask in 1997.
