A Matching Set

On Thursday, my human companion (HC) went back to the scene of the crime for his first post op checkup. I am happy to report that everything is looking good, and he is on his way to a full recovery.

He is now walking without any type of assistance, and his range of motion is over 90 degrees. We hope to be back on the street together by the end of the month.

In the meantime, I want to say that all of my dog walkers are doing a great job of getting me out on a regular basis. I am one happy canine to have such a support group.

With my HC still out of commission on the walking duties, I will again be drawing on some “evergreen” reports of things I have collected over several months.

This week’s evergreen report covers the sidewalk brands that contractors use to identify their handywork. I realize most readers don’t even notice these brands while walking the sidewalks, but I am only 20 inches tall and these are right in my line of sight.

There’s a variety of designs, with some being quite ornate and others somewhat primitive. Some have dates incorporated into the brand itself while others allow the craftsman to carve the date.

I was surprised to find some brands dating back to the 1920s and ’30s.

I hope you will take a few minutes to view my collection and then will notice the brands around your home or walking route.

Weather is looking pretty darn nice. Get out and enjoy the beauty of Alameda.
