Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) will host a number of exciting events this month, starting with a family forum on “Where to Find Resources in AUSD Schools” on Tuesday, October 15, at 6 p.m., via Teams. The forum will cover AUSD’s academic and social-emotional resources. Click here to join the meeting online.
On October 24, from 4 to 5 p.m., AUSD will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Wood Middle School campus. The ceremony will include information about the new campus, as well as updates on current construction projects at Alameda High School (a new swim center and upgrades to Kofman Auditorium) and Encinal High School (the new athletic field). The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
That evening, at 6:30 p.m., the Office of Equity is holding a Family Film and Community Night that will include a showing of “Tell Them We are Rising,” a documentary that explores the history of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and then a panel discussion with AUSD students on the themes presented in the film. That event will take place at the Little Theater at Alameda High School. You may register online for the free event.
On October 29, AUSD is holding two events. From 5 to 7:30 pm, the PTA Council and AUSD are jointly hosting the first ever “Healthy Kids, Healthy Mental Health” Wellness Fair for families and students of all ages at Ruby Bridges Elementary School. The program will provide an opportunity to learn how to nurture students’ emotional health at home and how to find mental and emotional health resources provided to students and families in schools. Free dinner, child care, and art activities will be available for children, plus a mindfulness and yoga workshop. Please register online for this event.
From 6 to 7:30 p.m., staff will host a Math Night for middle and high school families so they can learn more about the new Secondary Math Pathways, as well as the new curriculum. Learn more about the program on the AUSD Secondary Math Pathways web page.
Finally, we want to make sure the community knows that we have one seat available on AUSD’s Parcel Tax Oversight Committee. The committee meets four to six times a year to review revenues and expenditures of AUSD’s parcel taxes and help develop an annual report. Find more information about the committee, as well as the application, on the AUSD Parcel Tax Oversight Committee web page.
