If you’re looking for a career pivot, or have always wanted an eco-friendly job, the Regenerative Jobs training program [1] at Alameda’s REAP Climate Center [2] may be the perfect opportunity for you. The six-week paid training program is designed to launch participants into a well-paid, in-demand job that heals the land.
The training, which is funded by a Catalyst grant [4] from the California Jobs First [5] program, is intended for Bay Area communities that have historically been excluded from economic and environmental opportunities, such as low-income individuals, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) populations, veterans, and those re-entering the workforce.
The training is entry level, no experience required. Eligible applicants must be age 18 or older, able to lift 25 pounds, and must enroll by January 30, 2026.
The program will be located at REAP Climate Center, 2133 Tynan Avenue. Participants will:
- Get hands-on training in regenerative practices.
- Learn from local experts in soil health, waste-to-resource innovation, and restoration.
- Build professional skills through career development and workforce workshops.
- Connect with a network of employers, mentors, and community partners.
- Receive a total stipend award of $1,150 for participating in the program and a certificate that leads to industry-valued job opportunities.
Each course lasts six weeks, with four weeks of regenerative training and two weeks of professional development. Courses will be offered Tuesdays on Zoom and Sundays in person, with two hours of independent study. Session 1 will take place March 1–April 7, 2026; Session 2 will be offered March 29–May 5, 2026.
Participants will sign up to be trained in one of two practices:
- Compost Practices: Participants will learn all about compost, including what it is, what it’s useful for, and how to manage and apply it. Participants will receive a Compost Practices Certificate.
- Biochar: Participants will learn about biochar, including how to safely create and manage this important regenerative tool that improves soil health and water retention. Participants will receive a Biochar Practices Certificate.
All participants will receive career coaching, including resume review, interview preparation help, workplace advocacy training, and more.
