Timothy Patrick Mahony, Jr. passed away unexpectedly in Alameda on April 9, 2026. He was 47.
Tim was born on June 5, 1978, and grew up an Alameda kid through and through, playing Little League Baseball and ARPD sports. Tim attended Lum Elementary, Lincoln Middle School, and Alameda High, where he played football with force and distinction. Tim acted with the AHS drama department and worked on crew for theatrical productions including The Sound of Music and Bye Bye Birdie. A fixture at car shows and Lee Auto, Tim could also turn a wrench, a skill expressed most strikingly through his beloved 1966 Chevelle.
Tim was a hard worker who labored diligently and conscientiously in a number of fields, including as a longshoreman on the San Francisco Bay with Westar Marine Services. Later, Tim preferred to work with the public, both in the service industry delivering pizza for LaVal’s, and as a craftsman selling lovingly restored furniture at the Alameda Antiques Faire.
The greatest love and accomplishment of Tim’s life was his daughter, Delaney, who is the image of her father in many respects. Together in a camper, Tim and Delaney toured the country, visiting theme parks and collecting pressed pennies. They also shared an abiding devotion to the Buffalo Bills, both traveling to games and watching from home, where Tim would pace whenever time was short and the score was heading in the wrong direction. For Tim, everything mattered. Everything had meaning.
Tim is survived by his daughter, Delaney Mahony-Bick; his co-parent, Barbara Bick; his mother, Karen Patrone; his half-sisters, Celeste Mahony and Kathryn Mahony Zepfel; his stepbrother Brian Patrone; and his cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Everyone who knew Tim remembers a kind and reliable friend, and everyone he ever met, even in passing, encountered a witty and affable companion, a sympathetic ear, and a sharp and discerning intellect. He will be missed.
A celebration of life honoring Tim will be held on May 9, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please email [email protected] [2] for location.
