Linda Arlene (Nicolas) Allen.

Linda was born in Oakland to George and Tyne Nicolas.  After graduating Oakland High, Linda worked at Standard Oil in San Francisco and met the love of her life, Rick Allen.  Their 44-year marriage endured until Rick’s passing in 2011.

An Alameda resident for over 50 years, Linda lived her life to the fullest and maintained many life-long friendships.  She worked for over 30 years at Alameda Children’s Learning Center (CLC) and loved volunteering at Girls Inc. of the Island City. Linda could often be seen dancing in the streets at Haight Avenue block parties, rocking out to Motown and Rolling Stones. Linda was one of a kind. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her generous heart, her spirit, and joy of life.

Linda is survived by her loving son Brian Allen (Rosie) of Nashville; her loving daughter Amy Allen of Alameda; loving granddaughter Rebecca Allen; sister-in-law Winifred (Frank) Ghiglione; nephew John (Kristie) Ghiglione; niece Mary (Mark) Peterson and numerous cousins. Linda also leaves behind her incredible neighbors in the 300 block of Haight Avenue and her many close friends, including her special GOOF friends.

Linda will be deeply missed by us all.

At her request, no memorial services will be held. However, a celebration of life is planned for a later date.

The family would prefer donations in Linda’s name be made either to Girls Inc of the Island City [2], 1724 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501, or ALS Association, Golden West Chapter [3], PO Box 7082, Woodland Hills, CA 91365-7082.
