Alameda’s Main Street Ferry Terminal will reopen on January 2, 2024, following the completion of a major refurbishment project. The station was closed on October 23 [1] to repair and replace aging infrastructure and bring the site into compliance with current seismic safety requirements. The project also included preparing the terminal for future fleet electrification.
[2]During the closure, all Alameda passenger used the Alameda Seaplane ferry, which extended weekday service and provided weekend service as well. When the Main Street terminal reopens in January, full service will resume for trips connecting San Francisco, Oakland, and South San Francisco, with some minor schedule changes. Weekend service for the Alameda Seaplane ferry route will be discontinued entirely.
San Francisco Bay Ferry is implementing schedule changes systemwide at that time. The Oyster Point Limited pilot route connecting Mission Bay to South San Francisco will also be discontinued. Other minor schedule adjustments will occur to weekday schedules on the Richmond and Harbor Bay routes.
