An Automated License Plate Reader [1] (ALPR) alert led Alameda Police Department (APD) officers to a stolen vehicle near Marina Village, resulting in the driver’s arrest and the discovery of a firearm, counterfeit government ID, drug paraphernalia, and evidence of possible federal agent impersonation.
[2]According to an APD Facebook post [3], just after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, officers received an ALPR notification of a stolen vehicle being driven near the Marina Village Shopping Center. It didn’t take long for an officer to locate the vehicle and make contact with the driver, who was then arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.
“During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a firearm, counterfeit government identification, drug paraphernalia, and additional evidence suggesting the driver may have been impersonating a federal agent,” the post read. “Impersonating a government or law enforcement official is not only a serious offense, but it also poses a significant risk to the individual and the public.”
According to APD, the investigation remains active as officers work to determine the full extent of the suspect’s actions.
