Two-mile demonstration to stretch from Crab Cove to Park Street
Alamedans carrying homemade “Hands Off!” signs will line a two-mile stretch of Alameda Beach on January 17, starting at 1 p.m., to protest authoritarianism and corruption in the Trump administration. “As we enter 2026, let’s make sure the nation knows we are not backing down,” the event webpage [1] states.

A drone will film aerial video footage as protesters stand at the water’s edge, pointing their signs to the sky and telling the administration to stop violating the Constitution, sovereign nations, and basic human rights. “Hands Off our communities and immigrants, our medical care, our constitution, our legal system, our education—you name it on your own sign!” organizers suggest.
The video of these defiant messages to the Trump administration will be shared with news media, social media, and others in the worldwide fight to save democracy, organizers said.
“This gathering is to recharge for 2026 by uniting and sending a strong message to this unlawful and corrupt administration,” says Shalom Bruhn, a spokesperson and organizer of the action. “The fight continues and is stronger than ever.”
The entire East Bay community is invited to participate in the event, organized by Indivisible Alameda. “Bring friends, family, co-workers and co-resisters to form a two-mile human line on the sand,” organizers suggest. “The signs will tell Trump in direct and succinct words to keep his Hands Off whatever you choose.” Suggestions on how to make signs are available at the event webpage [1].
Organizers remind those who wish to participate that “A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.”
The basics
When: January 17 at 1 p.m.—unless it rains, in which case the event will be postponed to Saturday, February 7 at 1 p.m. Filming starts promptly at 1:30 p.m.
Where: Meet at the beach, at the bend where Westline Drive turns into Shoreline Drive (see map). The protest will line Alameda Beach along Shoreline Drive, from Crab Cove to Park Street. Parking is available at the Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach parking lot at Westline Drive and Otis Drive.
