Assemblymember Mia Bonta Outlines the Health Argument for Redistricting

“Illness and suffering have no party preference, and the lives of people in these districts are our collective responsibility. So, I want to remind you, as Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, what is at stake,” Assemblymember Bonta said.

Referring to President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which she called the “Big Ugly Bill,” Bonta outlined what the public, state and local agencies, and healthcare facilities across the state say the impacts HR 1 will have, including, in her words:

Assemblymember Bonta added that HR1 would hurt rural hospitals and countless other healthcare facilities that are scraping by as the bill cuts away crucial funding for them.

“This impacts every single one of our healthcare systems,” Bonta said to her fellow Assemblymembers. “… So, what is at stake is the very lives of our constituents. We cannot be mistaken about that. So today, we must ensure that every Californian has the ability to be protected, to be represented in Congress, and to continue to stand up against the attacks on our democracy wherever they may rise.”
