Catalytic converter, vehicle theft reports remain at low levels
Catalytic converter thefts seem to be a problem of the past, steadily decreasing this year from 18 in the month of January to 1 in June. Automobile thefts have stabilized to an average of 37.8 per month in the last six months according to the Alameda Police Department [1].

Collisions increased by 30.51% from May to June, reaching a six-month high of 77 reports. Drive safely and pay attention to all the road construction happening on the island!
There were no incidents of arson in June. Arrests were down 10.42% and calls for service were down 7.71% from May to June. Reports taken were down by 2%.

APD June 2025 incidents of note
Assault: On June 5 at 8:00 a.m., the Alameda Police Department (APD) Communication Center received multiple calls regarding an individual swinging a pole at pedestrians and vehicles near Broadway and Otis Drive. One pedestrian was struck but was not injured. The suspect was located with several knives in their possession and arrested for multiple offenses.
DUI Collision: On June 8 at 12:50 a.m., officers responded to Leonard Court for the report of a collision. The driver of a vehicle involved in the collision was found to be driving under the influence along Mecartney Road when the collision occurred. A child was in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was unharmed. The driver was arrested for multiple offenses.
Theft: On June 10 at 10:55 a.m., officers responded to a business in the South Shore Shopping Center for the report of an in-progress theft. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived. During an area check, the individual was located and arrested. More than $1,100 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the business.
Assault: On June 15 at 10:25 p.m., officers responded to the 1800 block of Grand Street for the report of a disturbance. Officers located two individuals with serious injuries. After a thorough investigation, two suspects were identified and on June 30 those individuals were arrested for their roles in the incident.
Theft: On June 29 at 12:22 p.m., officers responded to the South Shore Shopping Center for the report of an in-progress theft. Two individuals were actively concealing merchandise as officers were speaking to store representatives. With the concealed merchandise in hand, the two parties attempted to walk past an officer who was standing next to the exit. Both parties were arrested, and the merchandise was returned to the business. The same individuals were identified as the suspects in a theft that had occurred the previous day.
Traffic Enforcement: APD officers issued 218 traffic citations and 187 warnings.
