The Alameda Sister City Association is hosting a free screening [1] of the Academy Award-winning documentary No Other Land at the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex, 2317 Central Avenue, on April 23 at 6 p.m.
The 2024 documentary was directed by a collective of Palestinian-Israeli activists and captures the destruction of a Palestinian community in the occupied West Bank. Though the film did not secure a U.S. distributor [3], it won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film in 2025.
The Alameda Sister City Association organized the sold-out screening with support from the City of Alameda to share the documentary with a wider audience.
“[The City of Alameda is] happy to partner with the Alameda Sister City Association to host a free screening of No Other Land and bring this powerful Academy-Award winning film to Alameda residents,” Sarah Henry said on behalf of the City in a statement to the Alameda Post.
Alameda Families & Friends for Collective Liberation [4] (AFF4CL) said it is “thrilled to see this film come to our island. …Our mainstream media has shielded the public about the truth of Palestine far too long. This Oscar-winning film lifts that veil with artistic beauty and human dignity,” AFF4CL said in a statement to the Post.
