Firefighters also assisting in Orleans Complex Fire in Siskiyou County
Alameda Fire Department [1] (AFD) has now deployed its reserve fire boat to the Green Fire in Shasta Trinity National Forest as part of the California Mutual Aid System.
[2]A crew of three Alameda firefighters towed the fire boat to Lake Shasta, AFD reported Saturday, July 19, on Instagram [3].
The Green Fire had burned more than 19,000 acres as of Sunday morning and was approximately just 43% contained, according to a CalFire report posted in the Sacramento Bee [4].
Alameda Fire Boat Deanna Jo will assist with firefighting operations in and along Lake Shasta. Responsibilities will include patrol, fire suppression, shuttling of fire crews, and emergency evacuation of personnel, according to the AFD report.
AFD also deployed a firefighter as a Fireline Medic to the Green Fire and a Division Chief as a Field Safety Officer assigned to the Orleans Complex [5] fire in Siskiyou County, according to the Fire Department report.
The Orleans Complex fire was discovered on July 9 and is still just 2% contained, according to a CalFire announcement posted in the Sacramento Bee [4]. Evacuation orders have been issued.
“The Alameda Fire Department remains fully staffed to service the citizens of Alameda, which includes our frontline Fire Boat,” the Instagram report assured.
