Alameda Lincoln Park Pickleballers (ALPP) and Do Good Sports Club [1] sponsored a Youth Round Robin Pickleball Fundraiser for the courts at Lincoln Park on Friday, July 31. Youth from our local schools from fifth to eleventh grades played seven games. A total of 16 youth pickleballers participated in two categories, with two gold, silver, and bronze medalists. The modest participation fee went to the court fund. Parents, kids, and spectators had a great time due to the fierce competition and good sportsmanship. Parents of pickleballers assisted with the setup and take-down.
[2]ALPP has been working to raise $15,000 [3] to assist in paying for the renovations of the courts. They currently have raised more than $12,500 through monthly Round Robins, drawings, and individual donations. Do Good Sports Club is a nonprofit that “provides children with affordable or free access to sports resources…aiming to include those who may otherwise be excluded from organized sports due to financial constraints.” The group is led by Chris Tam, who also runs the All Good Living Foundation [5] and the All Good Living store at 2332 Alameda Avenue.
