Kayaking on the raging Millsite River
[1]Tristan and Layla are kayaking on the mighty, raging Millsite River. Going upstream, they pass under a bridge and continue upriver. Two miles upstream from the bridge they accidently drop a water bottle overboard. Not noticing the bottle overboard, they continue upstream for another eight miles. At that point, they turn around, and head back downstream. As they pass under the bridge they retrieve their water bottle. The current, which carried their bottle, has a velocity of 2 miles per hour.
Find the average velocity V they sustained passing through the water.
