APD junior detectives take action
Alameda Police Department [1] branched out a bit this past week, hosting a few elementary school students for a Whodunit Mystery day. Michaelia Parker from the City of Alameda [2] and Alameda Police Lt. Alan Kuboyama created this engaging, creative and educational opportunity for local students.
[3]“Two Alameda residents stopped by and helped solve the case of the missing lunch,” APD stated in a video posted [4] on their Facebook page [5]. “Our junior detectives took on the case from start to finish.
The young crime solvers received assignments from dispatch, got tips from APD’s Investigations Unit, interviewed persons of interest, and processed evidence found at the crime scene. By the end of their visit, they identified the culprit—and starred in a video suitable for CSI: Alameda.
[6]APD officers were duly impressed.
“Our staff enjoyed the visit from our new junior officers,” the APD post stated. “It was a fantastic opportunity to give young residents an inside look at what it takes to solve a case. Great job, junior detectives!”
