Update: Survey available until Friday, June 14.
The City of Alameda [1] and the design team for the new Aquatic Center [2] at the west end of Jean Sweeney Open Space Park invite the public to participate in the second community workshop for the pool project on Saturday, June 8, at Albert H. Dewitt Officers’ Club, 641 West Redline Ave., Alameda Point. The workshop will start at 9:30 a.m. and is scheduled to last until 11:30 a.m.

During the workshop, the preferred concept will be presented and the community will participate in a collaborative process to create a final master plan that represents desired community changes.
At the end of the workshop, the City will open an online survey [3] where people who were unable to attend can vote for their preferred option and offer any additional feedback. The survey will remain open until Friday, June 14, at 7 p.m.
Information presented at the workshop will be available on the City Aquatic Center web page [4].
About the Aquatic Center
The new Aquatic Center [5] will provide additional pool space to meet the needs of the community, as the current high school pools do not have sufficient capacity. The center will provide year-round and full-day programming, including swim lessons, rentals, lap swimming, camps, classes, and other activities.
The project is estimated to cost up to $30 million, with half of the funding coming from the City’s general fund and the remainder from Certificates of Participation. The facility will include competitive and recreational pools. The project is expected to break ground in 2025, with completion slated for 2027.
