Plan Bay Area 2050+ Public Engagement Period Begins in August

The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) staff this month will begin a second round of public engagement for Plan Bay Area 2050+, the Bay Area’s long-range plan integrating transportation, housing, economic development, and environmental resilience strategies.

The content will focus on:

  • Sharing both the Draft Blueprint outcomes and the Transit 2050+ Draft Network.
  • Gathering feedback to inform the development of the Final Blueprint and address identified Draft Blueprint challenges.
  • Identifying early priorities for implementing Plan Bay Area 2050+.

The public comment period is scheduled for August 8 to September 9, with a variety of in-person and virtual opportunities for the public to participate. Following an analysis of public input, the ABAG Executive Board and Commission are expected to consider approval of the Final Blueprint in late 2024.

Earlier this summer, MTC-ABAG staff released key findings from the Draft Blueprint analysis, as well as the Draft Transit 2050+ Network. They are now asking for community input to help address the challenges identified through the Draft Blueprint analysis and establish early priorities for implementing Plan Bay Area 2050+. They also need input on the Draft Transit 2050+ Network.

You can make your voice heard in a variety of ways. Staff will be hosting an online survey (coming soon) and a series of community “pop-up” workshops at various locations (listed below) across the nine counties to gather community input. Additional pop-up locations will be announced soon.
