Plus Family Fun celebration at Corica Park
Mosey, amble, or push a stroller—and by all means pick up your swag bag filled with goodies from local businesses—at the Mother’s Day 5K and 10K Run and Family Fun Day [1] on Sunday, May 14, 7 a.m. to noon, at Corica Park Golf Course, 1 Clubhouse Memorial Rd.
[2]Presented by Big Huge Day, a woman-owned event company, the family-friendly event starts and ends at Corica Park [3] with snacks, swag, rehydration, and paper plate awards at the end. Coffee and juice will be served at 7 a.m., followed by a yoga warm-up and stretch with local yoga teacher Noelle [4] at 8 a.m. and the 5K run at 9 a.m.—run it twice to complete a 10K. All runners must start their second lap by 9:45 a.m.
Participants may pick up swag bags—designed and printed by All Good Living [5] in downtown Alameda—on Friday or Saturday at Lauren’s Closet [6], 1420 Park St., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., or on race day at the start line from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Goodies will be provided by Corica Park Golf Course, &Mother.org [7], and many local businesses, including All Good Living, Lauren’s Closet, Island Savoy Market [8], and more.
After the race, mimosas will be served free to moms who want them. Fresh juice and soda water will also be served free for the moms/runners. The moms who participate in the race will also get flowers as well as breakfast—fresh biscuits with either jam or a fried egg—courtesy of Biscuit Baby. Food and beverages will also be available for non-runners to purchase.
Face painting and local vendors will be at the site, and Corica Park is offering discounts for the driving range all morning. Jim’s on the Course [9] is a great place for the family to enjoy a full brunch. Kids are welcome to walk/run with mom but will need to sign a waiver before participating.
