Pets of the Week for April 4, 2026
[1]SPECIAL EVENT
Bottle Babies 101: The Whole Kitten Caboodle
Saturday, April 11, 1-3 p.m.
Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS)
2228 South Shore Center
Kitten season is here! It’s the perfect time to join Full Circle Cats and Katie Carney of Kitten 911 Rescue for this free, in-person workshop on how to care for kittens under six weeks old.
This hands-on, practical training will help you build the skills and confidence needed to foster and support bottle babies, whether you’re working independently or as part of a rescue team. You’ll learn about feeding and care, supplies, techniques, and tips on when to step in, stand back, or seek urgent help. These tiny kittens are at high risk in shelter environments—by learning how to care for them, you can be an invaluable resource and help save lives!
Everyone is welcome to walk in on Saturday for this special event. No registration needed. Visit the Full Circle Cats [3] website to learn more about their workshops.
[4]Meet Poppa
And in the meantime, meet Poppa [5]! He’s a six-year-old dreamboat, and everyone who meets him says the same thing: How is he still available?
He is laid-back, well-mannered, and the kind of dog that turns heads on a walk without even trying. He loves fetch, snacks, and your attention, and he will accept all three with the quiet confidence of a dog who knows his worth.
Poppa isn’t a big cuddler, but he is absolutely a lover—he lives for kisses and being in the orbit of his people, even if he’s doing it from across the room.
He’s house trained, endlessly patient, and great with everyone he meets. He has swagger and sweetness in equal measure, and he brings both to everything he does.
Poppa is ready to be someone’s Number One. He is, in every sense of the word, a catch, and he is waiting for someone to scoop him up.
If you would like to meet Poppa, just call 510-337-8565 to make arrangements to meet him while he is in foster care.
