Pet of the Week for January 4, 2025
If you like very cute chihuahua/chi mixes and have dealt with sweet chihuahuas who tend to be a bit on the shy, nervous side, you could be this senior dog’s angel.
[2]Cleo [3] is nine years old—a tough age to land in a shelter. But when she gets used to someone, you can see her youthful spunk along with her affectionate nature. She loves to cuddle and kiss when she’s feeling less guarded about her environment.
The ideal home would have another small dog she can play with. If there are children, it would be best if they’re 12 and up. FAAS volunteers have learned that little Cleo gets startled when strangers reach down to pet her, so she’d need a home that’s aware of this.
You can visit Cleo at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Here’s a canine adoption form [4] if you’d like to get a head start on applying to be considered as Cleo’s adopter. Bonus: If you’re 62 or older, there’s no adoption fee for Cleo, thanks to FAAS’s Seniors for Seniors program.
