The Alameda Fire Department is inviting the public to come to its 150th Anniversary celebration on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The free community event will be held at Fire Station 1, 1300 Park Street, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Firefighters, City officials, and community partners will join in commemorating a century and a half of service to the City of Alameda—and there will be plenty of fun for all ages.
Event activities include:
- Antique Alameda fire apparatus on display.
- Presentation of the colors by the Alameda Boy Scouts of America.
- CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) information.
- Kids can spray water from firehoses with our Alameda Firefighters.
- Free plastic fire helmets.
- Blood pressure checks.
- Hot dogs and hamburgers served by Alameda Firefighters, Local 689.
- Birthday Cake with sing-along to celebrate.
Founded in 1876, the Alameda Fire Department has grown alongside the city it serves, evolving from a volunteer bucket brigade into a modern, full-service department equipped to respond to fires, medical emergencies, and disasters of all kinds. The 150th anniversary event offers residents a rare opportunity to step back in time while looking ahead to the department’s future.
“This milestone belongs to every firefighter who has served this community over the past 150 years, and to the residents who have trusted us to protect them,” said Fire Chief Luby. “We wanted to mark the occasion with our community, who have supported us for the past 150 years.”
In all that time, the department’s commitment to this community has never wavered — and this milestone is an opportunity to celebrate that legacy while looking forward to the next 150 years of service.
